Oil Pan: Installation
- Install the oil pan gasket onto the oil pan.
- Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant in 2 places where the cylinder block meets the front cover and in 2 places where the rear main bearing cap meets the cylinder block.
- Tighten the oil pan bolts to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) in the sequence shown.
- Install the engine inspection plate and the bolt.
- Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
- Position the starter and install the upper and lower bolts hand-tight.
- Tighten the upper bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Tighten the lower bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Position the dual converter Y-pipe and install the 2 Y-pipe to RH exhaust manifold bolts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Install the 2 dual converter Y-pipe to LH exhaust manifold nuts.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Position the heat shield and install the 2 nuts.
- Tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
- Install the ground strap and bolt onto the RH cylinder head.
- Tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
- Install the engine roll restrictor and the 2 bolts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
- Start the engine and check for oil leaks around the oil pan.
NOTE:
If the oil pan is not secured within 4 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness or 4 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.
NOTE:
Make sure the fasteners are clean and dry prior to installation.
