Brake Shift Interlock Actuator - Column Shift: Installation
- Position the actuator onto the bracket and install the circlip.
- Install the brake shift interlock actuator onto the steering column tube and secure with 3 Torx® head screws.
- Tighten screws to 9 N.m (80 lb-in).
- Connect the electrical connector to the brake shift interlock actuator.
- Raise the steering column assembly into position and secure with 2 nuts.
- Tighten nuts to 15 N.m (11 lb-ft).
- Install the steering column absorber and secure with 2 nuts.
- Tighten nuts to 15 N.m (11 lb-ft).
- Thread the shift indicator cable through the shift indicator adjustment wheel and connect the shift indicator cable to the steering column lever. Rotate the shift indicator adjustment wheel counterclockwise onto the shift indicator adjustment mechanism and install into position. Adjust shift indicator as necessary.
- Install the knee bolster to the instrument panel and secure with 2 screws.
- Place the lower steering column shroud into position and insert the ignition lock cylinder into the steering column tube.
- Install the upper steering column shroud and secure with 3 screws.
- Connect battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
- Check for correct brake shift interlock operation. The ignition key should be removable only with the transaxle range selector lever in PARK. The transaxle range selector lever should be locked in the PARK position with the key removed.
