Test Procedure
- QH1 PRELIMINARY DIAGNOSIS NOTE: Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P115A may set with a low fuel level input. If an excessively low fuel level input message is received by the PCM from the IC, the PCM limits the injection control pressure (ICP). This may cause a lack of power, rough idle, or other driveability concerns. If no additional DTCs are present, the concern may have been caused by the vehicle running too low on fuel.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Carry out the IC self-test.
- Carry out the PCM self-test.
Are any IC DTCs present or any additional PCM DTCs present?
Yes No For IC DTCs, REFER to the appropriate, Instrument Cluster to continue diagnosis.
For additional PCM DTCs, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHARTS AND DESCRIPTIONS .GO to QH2. - QH2 CHECK THE IC FUEL LVL PID
- Access the IC and monitor the FUEL LVL PID.
- Record the FUEL LVL PID value.
- Compare the IC FUEL LVL PID recorded value to the IC fuel gauge.
Does the IC FUEL LVL PID correspond to the fuel gauge level?
Yes No GO to QH3. REFER to the appropriate, Instrument Cluster to diagnose the incorrect fuel gauge indication symptom. - QH3 CHECK THE PCM FLI PID
- Access the PCM and monitor the FLI PID.
- Record the FLI PID value.
- Compare the PCM FLI PID recorded value to the IC FUEL LVL PID recorded value.
Does the PCM FLI PID correspond to the IC FUEL LVL PID?
Yes No Unable to duplicate the condition. CHECK for a loose connection, and damaged or corroded terminals. WIGGLE the harness attempting to recreate the concern. REPAIR as necessary. REFER to NO DTCS PRESENT SYMPTOM CHART INDEX , if a driveability concern exists. GO to QH4. - QH4 CHECK IF A DTC IS STILL PRESENT
- Clear the DTCs.
- Carry out the self-test.
Are DTCs P0460, P0462, P0463, P115A, P2067 or P2068 present?
Yes No GO to QH5. The test is complete. - QH5 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION
- Disconnect all the PCM connectors.
- Visually inspect for:
- pushed out pins
- corrosion
- Connect all the PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Carry out the PCM self-test and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes No INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to FLASH ELECTRICALLY ERASABLE PROGRAMMABLE READ ONLY MEMORY (EEPROM) , Programming the VID Block for a Replacement PCM. The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
