Power Steering Pump: Installation

    NOTE: A new Teflon® seal must be installed any time the power steering pressure line is disconnected from the power steering pump or a fluid leak may occur.
  1. Using the special tool, install a new Teflon® seal on the power steering pressure line fitting.

  3. Holding the power steering pump with a suitable holding device, connect the power steering pressure line fitting-to-power steering pump.
    • Tighten to 65 Nm (48 lb-ft).
  4. Position the power steering pump and install the 3 bolts.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  5. Position the bracket and install the power steering pressure line bracket-to-engine bolt.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  6. Connect the FEPS solenoid electrical connector.
  7. Release the clamp and connect the power steering fluid cooler-to-pump supply hose.
    • Attach the supply hose retainer to the power steering pressure line bracket.
  8. Using the special tool, install the power steering pump belt onto the power steering pump pulley.
    • Install the special tool between the power steering pump belt and pulley and turn the crankshaft bolt clockwise.

  10. Position the RH splash shield and install the 7 pin-type retainers.

  12. Attach the pressure line bracket to the valve cover stud and install the nut.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  13. Connect the PSP switch electrical connector.
  14. Fill the power steering system. For additional information, refer to STEERING SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
