Transaxle Support Insulator: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Remove the 2 Y-pipe nuts, disconnect the exhaust hanger and discard the exhaust seal.
    • Discard the gasket and nuts.

  4. Remove the 4 nuts, the Y-pipe assembly and discard the exhaust seals.
    • Discard the nuts.

  6. Loosen the engine roll restrictor-to-subframe through bolt.

  8. Remove the 2 bolts from the roll restrictor bracket.

  10. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.

  12. Disconnect the engine breather from the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly.

  14. Remove the 2 ACL assembly bracket bolts.

  16. Loosen the ACL outlet pipe clamp at the Throttle Body (TB) and remove the ACL and ACL outlet pipe assembly.

  18. Remove the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
  19. Detach the wiring harness retainers from the battery tray.

  21. Remove the 2 lower battery tray bracket bolts.

  23. Remove the upper battery tray bolt and nut. Release the Power Distribution Box (PDB) fasteners. Remove the battery tray and bracket.

    NOTE: The Oil Pan Holding Fixture must be carefully aligned to the mounting bosses on the oil pan. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the oil pan.
  25. Position a floor jack and the Oil Pan Holding Fixture under the oil pan and raise the floor jack high enough to release the pressure on the transaxle support insulator.

  27. Remove the transaxle support insulator through bolt.
    1. Remove the flagnut.
    2. Using the floor jack and Oil Pan Holding Fixture, release the tension from the transaxle support insulator through bolt to remove it from the transaxle mount.

  29. Lower the transaxle from the mount about 50.8 mm (2 in).
  30. Remove the 4 nuts and the transaxle support insulator bracket.

  32. Remove the top transaxle support insulator bolts.

  34. Remove the bottom transaxle support insulator bolts and remove the transaxle support insulator.
