Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, carry out the network test.
      • Does the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) pass the network test? 
      1. Yes:  GO to 2 on page 2.
      2. No:  REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A .
  2. CHECK THE Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs)
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, carry out the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module self-test.
    3. Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    4. Ignition OFF.
    5. Ignition ON.
    6. Using a scan tool, carry out the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module self-test.
    7. Record the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00 retrieved again? 
      1. Yes:  GO to 3 on page 2.
      2. No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  3. REVIEW THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) SELF-TEST
    1. Check the recorded Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or U3003:17 present? 
      1. Yes:  For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A .

        For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE P .

      2. No:  GO to 4 on page 2.
  4. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) IN THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
    1. Using a scan tool, carry out the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0562 or P0563 present? 
      1. Yes:  For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0563, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A . For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0562, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE B .
      2. No:  GO to 5 on page 2.
  5. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, carry out the self-test for all modules.
    3. Retrieve the Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) from all modules.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0100:00 set in the Body Control Module (BCM) or in the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)? 
      1. Yes:  CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
      2. No:  CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) instructions.

        If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern and the vehicle is not equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE .

        If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern and the vehicle is equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) .
