Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, carry out the network test.
      • Does the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) (vehicles without active park assist) or Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) (vehicles with active park assist) pass the network test? 
      1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
      2. No:  For vehicles not equipped with active park assist, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE AC .

        For vehicles equipped with active park assist, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE G .

  2. CHECK THE Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs)
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, carry out the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module self-test.
    3. Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    4. Ignition OFF.
    5. Ignition ON.
    6. Repeat the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module self-test.
    7. Record the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0131:00 retrieved again? 
      1. Yes:  GO to on page 2.
      2. No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  3. REVIEW THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) SELF-TEST
    1. Check the recorded Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or U3003:17 present? 
      1. Yes:  For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A .

        For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE P .

      2. No:  For vehicles not equipped with active park assist, GO to on page 2.

        For vehicles equipped with active park assist, GO to on page 3.

  4. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)
    1. Using a scan tool, carry out the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or 17 present? 
      1. Yes:  REFER to DTC CHART: INTERACTIVE DIAGNOSTICS .
      2. No:  GO to 6 on page 3.
  5. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Steering Column Control Module (SCCM)
    1. Using a scan tool, carry out the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C0051:16 or 17 present? 
      1. Yes:  REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE L .
      2. No:  GO to on page 3.
  6. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0131:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, carry out the self-test for all modules.
    3. Retrieve the Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) from all modules.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0131:00 set in any other modules? 
      1. Yes:  CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) instructions.

        If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern and the vehicle is not equipped with active park assist, INSTALL a new Power Steering Control Module (PSCM). REFER to STEERING GEAR (the module and steering gear are serviced as an assembly).

        If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern and the vehicle is equipped with active park assist, INSTALL a new Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). REFER to STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE (SCCM) .

      2. No:  CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) instructions.

        If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern and the vehicle is not equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE .

        If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern and the vehicle is equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) .
