Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
    3. Compare the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plate on the vehicle.
      • Does Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) match the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plate on the vehicle? 
      1. Yes:  GO to 2  on page 2.
      2. No:  RECONFIGURE the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) using As-Built data. FOLLOW the instructions on the scan tool.
  2. VERIFY THE Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) MODULE PART NUMBER
    1. Using a scan tool, retrieve and record the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module part number from the log viewer.
    2. Check the part number recorded against the number listed in the parts catalog.
      • Is the correct Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module installed in the vehicle? 
      1. Yes:  RECONFIGURE the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module using As-Built data. FOLLOW the instructions on the scan tool.

        CYCLE the ignition, REPEAT the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module self-test.

        If the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) returns on a vehicle not equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . RECONFIGURE the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module using As-Built data.

        If the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) returns on a vehicle equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) . RECONFIGURE the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module using As-Built data.

      2. No:  For vehicles not equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . RECONFIGURE the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module using As-Built data.

        For vehicles equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) . RECONFIGURE the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module using As-Built data.
