  1. CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH INPUT
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view Body Control Module (BCM) Parameter Identification (PID).
    3. Monitor the Body Control Module (BCM) Parameter Identification (PID) (IGN_SW_STATE) with the ignition in the RUN position.
    • Does the Parameter Identification (PID) indicate the correct ignition switch position?
  2. CHECK FOR VEHICLE SPEED-RELATED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) IN THE Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
    1. Using a scan tool, perform Powertrain Control Module (PCM) self-test.
    • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0500 present?
  3. CHECK THE STOPLAMP OPERATION
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Press and release the brake pedal while monitoring the stoplamps.
    • Do the stoplamps operate properly?
  4. CHECK FOR CORRECT Body Control Module (BCM) OPERATION
  1. Ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect and inspect all Body Control Module (BCM) connectors.
  3. Repair:
    • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins).
    • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins.
    • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary.
    1. Reconnect the Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    2. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    • Yes:  CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new Body Control Module (BCM). REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) or REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
    • No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
