Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE BRAKE PEDAL AND BRACKET
    1. Inspect the brake pedal position switch and brake pedal assembly. Verify there is no brake pedal pressure unintentionally applied due to incorrect brake pedal position switch or brake pedal installation.
      • Are the brake pedal position switch and brake pedal OK? 
      1. Yes:  GO to 2 on page 2.
      2. No:  REPAIR or INSTALL new components as necessary. REFER to BRAKE PEDAL AND BRACKET or REFER to STOPLAMP SWITCH .
  2. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) C0044:28, C0044:49 AND C0044:64 TO RETURN
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, clear all Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).
    3. Test drive the vehicle at speeds greater than 32 kmh (19.9 mph).
    4. Using a scan tool, carry out the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module self-test.
      • Are Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) C0044:28, C0044:49 and/or C0044:64 present? 
      1. Yes:  GO to 3 on page 2.
      2. No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by air trapped in the hydraulic brake system.
  3. CHECK FOR CORRECT Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) MODULE TO Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) TORQUE VALUES
    1. Verify all Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module-to-Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) fasteners are tightened to their correct torque specifications. REFER to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
      • Are the fasteners tightened to the correct specifications? 
      1. Yes:  If the vehicle is not equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . GO to on page 2.

        If the vehicle is equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) .

      2. No:  TIGHTEN all Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module-to-Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) fasteners. GO to on page 2.
  4. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) C0044:28, C0044:49 AND C0044:64
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, clear all Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).
    3. Test drive the vehicle at speeds greater than 32 kmh (19.9 mph).
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Using a scan tool, carry out the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module self-test.
      • Are Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) C0044:28, C0044:49 and/or C0044:64 present? 
      1. Yes:  If the vehicle is not equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) .

        If the vehicle is equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) .

      2. No:  Repairs complete. The system is operating correctly at this time.
