Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, carry out the network test.
      • Does the Body Control Module (BCM) pass the network test? 
      1. Yes:  GO to 2  on page 2.
      2. No:  REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE I .
  2. CHECK THE Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) MODULE Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs)
    1. Using a scan tool, carry out the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module self-test.
    2. Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    3. Ignition OFF.
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Repeat the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module self-test.
    6. Record the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0140:00 retrieved again? 
      1. Yes:  GO to 3  on page 2.
      2. No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  3. REVIEW THE RECORDED Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) FROM THE Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) MODULE SELF-TEST
    1. Check the recorded Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or U3003:17 present? 
      1. Yes:  For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A .

        For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE P .

      2. No:  GO to 4  on page 2.
  4. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) IN THE Body Control Module (BCM)
    1. Using a scan tool, carry out the Body Control Module (BCM) self-test.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16 or U3003:17 present? 
      1. Yes:  For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:16, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE H .

        For Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U3003:17, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE I .

      2. No:  GO to 5  on page 2.
  5. CHECK FOR Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0140:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
    1. Using the scan tool, carry out the self-test for all modules.
    2. Retrieve and record the Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) from all modules.
      • Is Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0140:00 set in any other module? 
      1. Yes:  CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new Body Control Module (BCM). REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) or REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
      2. No:  CHECK On-Line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) instructions.

        If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern and the vehicle is not equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE .

        If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern and the vehicle is equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) .
