Test Procedure

  1. DP1 CHECK FOR TCM AND PCM DTCS 
    • Carry out the TCM self-test.
    • Carry out the PCM self-test.

    Are any TCM or PCM DTCs present? 

    Yes No
    For DTCs P0C2F or P061A, GO to  DP2.
    For all others, DISREGARD the current diagnostic trouble code (DTC) at this time. DIAGNOSE the next DTC. GO to POWERTRAIN DTC CHARTS & DESCRIPTIONS -- ESCAPE HYBRID article .
    GO to  DP2.
  2. DP2 CHECK FOR CORRECT TIRE SIZE AND INFLATION 
    • Verify the correct tire size and inflation.

    Are the tire size and inflation OK? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DP3. REPAIR as necessary.
    Clear the PCM DTCs.
    Road test the vehicle.
    REPEAT the self-test.
  3. DP3 CHECK FOR ABS DTCS 
    • Check the ABS module for wheel speed sensor DTCs.

    Are any ABS DTC present? 

    Yes No
    REFER to the appropriate Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control article to diagnose the wheel speed sensor DTCs. GO to  DP4.
  4. DP4 CHECK FOR CORRECT TRACTION MOTOR RPM DURING THE ROAD TEST 
    • Access the freeze frame data (if available) and record the DTC conditions.
    • Access the TCM and monitor the M_SPEED (RPM) PID.
    • Access the TCM and monitor the VSS (SPD) PID.

    • Road test the vehicle. Test drive using freeze frame data conditions. (if available).
    • Refer to VEHICLE SPEED KM/H (MPH)/TRACTION MOTOR RPM  .

    Does the traction motor RPM correspond with the vehicle speed? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DP5. GO to PINPOINT TEST TP .
  5. DP5 CHECK FOR CORRECT GENERATOR RPM 
    • Access the TCM and monitor the G_SPEED (RPM) PID.
    • Access the TCM and monitor the ENGRPMA (RPM) PID.

    • Place the gear selector lever in PARK.
    • Start the engine using the engine running diagnostic mode. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC MODES .
    • Refer to ENGINE RPM/GENERATOR MOTOR RPM  .

    Does the generator RPM correspond with the engine RPM? 

    Yes No
    GO to  DP6. GO to PINPOINT TEST TO .
  6. DP6 CLEAR PCM DTCS 
    • Clear the PCM DTCs.
    • Road test the vehicle.
    • Repeat the KOEO and KOER self-tests and retrieve the continuous memory DTCs.

    Are any DTCs present? 

    Yes No
    DISREGARD the current diagnostic trouble code (DTC) at this time. DIAGNOSE the next DTC. GO to POWERTRAIN DTC CHARTS & DESCRIPTIONS -- ESCAPE HYBRID article . Test complete.
