Symptom Chart - External Controls, Column Shift

SYMPTOM CHART - EXTERNAL CONTROLS, COLUMN SHIFT

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • The Brake Shift Interlock Actuator (BSIA) system does not release/lock correctly
  • Circuitry
  • Fuse(s):
    • Smart Junction Box (SJB) 5 (10A)
    • Battery Junction Box (BJB) 43 (15A)
  • BSIA
  • Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch
  • Selector lever cable
  • The selector lever is out of correct gear relationship
  • Selector lever cable and bracket
  • Selector lever indicator
  • Selector lever linkage
  • Transmission Range (TR) indicator lamp (PRNDL) does not correspond to the selected gear
  • Selector lever cable bracket
  • TIGHTEN bolts holding the selector lever cable bracket.
  • Instrument Cluster (IC) malfunction
  • Selector lever cable loose in the transmission retainer bracket
  • VERIFY selector lever cable is fully seated in the transmission bracket.
  • Selector lever cable
  • Clip securing the selector lever cable to the steering column bracket
  • INSTALL clip correctly.
  • TR indicator lamp (PRNDL) does not illuminate
