Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE DLC PINS FOR DAMAGE
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect the scan tool cable from the DLC.
    3. Inspect DLC pins 4, 5 and 16 for damage.

    Are DLC pins 4, 5 and 16 OK? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the DLC as necessary.
  2. CHECK THE DLC VOLTAGE SUPPLY FOR AN OPEN
    1. Measure:

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: VERIFY the BCM fuse 24 (15A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the appropriate wiring diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REFER to OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION and OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. CHECK THE DLC GROUND CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
    1. Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable.
    2. Measure:
      DLC Ground

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    1. Yes: REPAIR the scan tool. CONNECT the negative battery cable.
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit in question. CONNECT the negative battery cable.
