Pinpoint Test
- CHECK POWER ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BCM POWER FUSE
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
BCM Ground Fuse 18 (10A) Ground Fuse side Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit Right - - - Left - - -
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts on both sides of the fuse?
- Yes: GO to 2 .
- No: VERIFY the fuse 18 (10A) is OK. If OK, GO to 12 . If not OK, REFER to the appropriate wiring diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REFER to OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION and OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- CHECK THE BCM GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: BCM C2280D.
- Measure:
BCM Ground C2280D Ground Pin Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit 25 GD133 (BK) - -
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE HS-CAN
TERMINATION RESISTANCE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable.
- Disconnect the scan tool cable from the DLC.
- Measure:
DLC DLC C251 C251 Pin Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit 6 VDB04 (WH/BU) 14 VDB05 (WH)
Is the resistance between 54 and 66 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 4 .
- No: GO to 6 .
- CHECK THE MS-CAN
TERMINATION RESISTANCE
Is the resistance between 54 and 66 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 12 .
- No: GO to 5 .
- CHECK THE MS-CAN
TERMINATION RESISTANCE WITH THE HVAC MODULE DISCONNECTED
- Disconnect: HVAC module C228A.
- Measure:
DLC DLC C251 C251 Pin Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit 3 VDB06 (GY/OG) 11 VDB07 (VT/OG)
Is the resistance between 108 and 132 ohms?
- Yes: REFER to Diagnostic Routine J: The Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) Module Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool .
- No: GO to 6 .
- CHECK THE MS-CAN
CIRCUITS BETWEEN THE BCM AND THE DLC FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: BCM C2280B.
- Measure:
BCM DLC C2280B C251 Pin Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit 38 VDB06 (GY/OG) 3 VDB06 (GY/OG) 39 VDB07 (VT/OG) 11 VDB07 (VT/OG)
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 7 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit in question in question.
- CHECK THE MS-CAN
CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO POWER
- Connect: BCM C2280B.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
DLC Ground C2280B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit 3 VDB06 (GY/OG) - - 11 VDB07 (VT/OG) - -
Is the voltage greater than 3 volts on either circuit?
- Yes: GO to 8 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit in question in question.
- CHECK THE MS-CAN
CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable.
- Measure:
DLC Ground C251 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit 3 VDB06 (GY/OG) - - 11 VDB07 (VT/OG) - -
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 9 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit in question in question.
- CHECK THE HS-CAN
CIRCUITS BETWEEN THE BCM AND THE DLC FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: BCM C2280F.
- Measure:
BCM DLC C2280F C251 Pin Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit 16 VDB04 (WH/BU) 6 VDB04 (WH/BU) 17 VDB05 (WH) 14 VDB05 (WH)
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 10 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
- CHECK THE HS-CAN
CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO POWER
- Connect: BCM C2280F.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
DLC Ground C251 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit 6 VDB04 (WH/BU) - - 14 VDB05 (WH) - -
Is the voltage greater than 3 volts on either circuit?
- Yes: REPAIR the circuit in question.
- No: GO to 11 .
- CHECK THE HS-CAN
CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable.
- Measure:
DLC Ground C251 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement Pin Circuit 6 VDB04 (WH/BU) - - 14 VDB05 (WH) - -
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 12 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
- CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the BCM connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (replace connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - replace terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - replace pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS
for any applicable TSBs
. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow TSB instructions. If no TSBs
address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM:
REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or
REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
