Pinpoint Test
- CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C535B (base mirrors).
- Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C504 (heated mirrors).
- Ignition ON.
- For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
Exterior Mirror Control Switch Ground C535B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 3 CBP01 (BU) - Ground - For vehicles with heated mirrors, measure:
Exterior Mirror Control Switch Ground C504 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 10 CBP32 (GN/VT) - Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
- Yes: GO to 2 .
- No: VERIFY BCM fuse 48 (30A) (base mirrors) or 32 (15A) (heated mirrors) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION and OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT
- For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
Exterior Mirror Control Switch Ground C535B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 GD233 (BK) - Ground - For vehicles with heated mirrors, measure:
Exterior Mirror Control Switch Ground C504 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 GD233 (BK) - Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR COMMON CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: LH Exterior Mirror.
- Disconnect: RH Exterior Mirror.
- Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C535A (base mirrors).
- Ignition ON.
- For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
Exterior Mirror Control Switch Ground C535A Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 4 CPM28 (BU/BN) - Ground - For vehicles with heated mirrors, measure:
Exterior Mirror Control Switch Ground C504 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 4 CPM28 (BU/BN) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR the circuit.
- No: GO to 4 .
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR COMMON CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
Exterior Mirror Control Switch Ground C535A Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 4 CPM28 (BU/BN) - Ground - For vehicles with heated mirrors, measure:
Exterior Mirror Control Switch Ground C504 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 4 CPM28 (BU/BN) - Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 5 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR COMMON CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
Exterior Mirror Control Switch LH Exterior Mirror C535A C516 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 4 CPM28 (BU/BN) 2 CPM28 (BU/BN) - For vehicles with heated mirrors, measure:
Exterior Mirror Control Switch LH Exterior Mirror C504 C516 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 4 CPM28 (BU/BN) 2 CPM28 (BU/BN)
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: INSTALL a new exterior mirror control switch (integral to the master window control switch). REFER to WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- For vehicles with base mirrors, measure:
