Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE PCM VIN
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view the VIN in the PCM.
    3. Compare the VIN in the PCM to the VIN plate on the vehicle.

    Does VIN in the PCM match the VIN plate on the vehicle? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: RECONFIGURE the PCM using As-Built data. FOLLOW the instructions on the scan tool.
  2. VERIFY THE ABS MODULE PART NUMBER
    1. Using a scan tool, retrieve and record the ABS module part number from the log viewer.
    2. Check the part number recorded against the number listed in the parts catalog.

    Is the correct ABS module installed in the vehicle? 

    1. Yes: RECONFIGURE the ABS module using As-Built data. FOLLOW the instructions on the scan tool.

      CYCLE the ignition, REPEAT the ABS module self-test.

      If the DTC returns on a vehicle not equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module . RECONFIGURE the ABS module using As-Built data.

      If the DTC returns on a vehicle equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new ABS module and HCU. REFER to Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) . RECONFIGURE the ABS module using As-Built data. Note ABS module and HCU are removed as an assembly.

    2. No: For vehicles not equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module . RECONFIGURE the ABS module using As-Built data.

      For vehicles equipped with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new ABS module and HCU. REFER to Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) . RECONFIGURE the ABS module using As-Built data. Note ABS module and HCU are removed as an assembly.
