Engine Ignition

The electronic ignition system is a coil-on-plug ignition system. The coil-on-plug ignition system consists of the:

- eight ignition coil-on-plugs.

- eight ignition wires.

- eight upper spark plugs.

- eight lower spark plugs.

The 8 separate ignition coil-on-plugs:

- change low voltage signals from the PCM to high voltage pulses.

- produce the high voltage pulses to the spark plugs.

- are connected directly to the upper spark plug.

- are connected by an ignition wire to the lower spark plug.

The 16 spark plugs:

- change high voltage pulses into a spark which ignites the fuel and air mixture.

- originally equipped on the vehicle have platinum-enhanced electrodes for long life.
