Removal and Installation
NOTE:
Electronic modules are sensitive to electrical charges. The ABS module can be damaged if exposed to these charges.
NOTE:
Do not allow any brake fluid or foreign material to enter the mating side of the ABS module or damage to the solenoids can occur.
All vehicles
- If a new ABS module is being installed, connect the scan tool and upload the module configuration from the ABS module. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
- Remove the degas bottle. For additional information, refer to
ENGINE COOLING
.
Vehicles equipped with a 3.5L engine
- Detach the body harness from the 2 valve cover studs and position the harness aside.
- Detach the wire harness from the 2 valve cover studs and position the harness aside.
- Remove the bolt and position the windshield washer reservoir filler neck aside.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
- Remove the nut and position the degas bottle hose aside.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
All vehicles
- Disconnect the ABS module electrical connector.
- Remove the 4 ABS module screws and the ABS module.
- To install, tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- If a new ABS module was installed, download the module configuration information from the scan tool. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
NOTE:
Visually inspect the ABS module terminals for damage before installation.
