Selector Lever Cable Adjustment

All vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Set the selector lever in the drive (D) position.

  3. Lift the lock upward on the transmission selector cable lock and remove the transmission selector cable from the selector lever.

  4. Place the transmission manual control lever in the D position by rotating the manual lever clockwise to the extent of travel, then rotate counterclockwise 3 detents.
  5. Install the transmission selector lever cable on the selector lever and push the lock downward to lock the transmission selector lever cable adjustment lock.

    1. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops.
    2. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise 3 detents.

    1. Gently pry the latch up.
    2. Push the lock tab to slide it down.

    NOTE: After locking the adjuster, pull back on the adjuster to make sure it is securely installed.
  8. All vehicles 
    1. With the adjuster locking tab released, connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
    2. Push the lock upward to lock the transmission selector lever cable adjustment lock.

  9. Verify that the vehicle starts in PARK and NEUTRAL only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in REVERSE.
