Selector Lever Cable Adjustment
All vehicles
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Set the selector lever in the drive (D) position.
Original equipped selector lever cable
- Lift the lock upward on the transmission selector cable lock and remove the transmission selector cable from the selector lever.
- Place the transmission manual control lever in the D position by rotating the manual lever clockwise to the extent of travel, then rotate counterclockwise 3 detents.
- Install the transmission selector lever cable on the selector lever and push the lock downward to lock the transmission selector lever cable adjustment lock.

Replacement selector lever cable

- Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops.
- Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise 3 detents.

- Gently pry the latch up.
- Push the lock tab to slide it down.
- All vehicles
- With the adjuster locking tab released, connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
- Push the lock upward to lock the transmission selector lever cable adjustment lock.
- Verify that the vehicle starts in PARK and NEUTRAL only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in REVERSE.
NOTE:
After locking the adjuster, pull back on the adjuster to make sure it is securely installed.
