Lumbar Assembly Front: Installation

All Seats Except Limo or Livery 

  1. 1.

    Install the power lumbar assembly.

    1. 1.

      Position the power lumbar assembly and attach the 2 retainers to the backrest frame.
      • Make sure the retainers come through the backrest frame on the other side and lock in place.

    1. 2.

      Position the power lumbar assembly wire in front of the backrest frame. Install 2 new clips retaining the power lumbar assembly to the backrest frame wire.

    1. 3.

      Connect the 2 power lumbar motor electrical connectors.

Limo or Livery Seats 

  1. 2.

    Install the lumbar assembly in the following sequence:

    1. 1.

      Connect the lumbar motor electrical connector.

    1. 2.

      Squeeze the retaining clips together to lock the lumbar assembly into the left side of the backrest frame.

    1. 3.

      Squeeze the retaining clips together to lock the lumbar assembly into the right side of the backrest frame.

All Seats 

  1. 3.

    Attach the backrest cover J-clips at the bottom.

All Seats Except Limo or Livery 

  1. 4.

    Install the backrest TED in the following sequence.

    1. 1.

      Position the backrest TED between the backrest frame and backrest foam pad.

    1. 2.

      Engage the 2 backrest TED lower clips to the backrest foam pad wire.

    1. 3.

      Engage the backrest TED upper retainers to the backrest frame wire.

    1. 4.

      Connect the electrical connector and attach the pin-type retainer to the backrest frame.

All Seats 

  1. 5.

    Engage the top center backrest trim cover J-clip to the backrest frame wire.

  1. 6.

    Attach the backrest trim cover hook-and-loop strips near the bottom and at the sides.

  1. 7.

    Install the carpet flap toe-kick in the following sequence.

    1. 1.

      Attach the J-clip to the cushion frame.

    1. 2.

      Install the pin-type retainers (only 1 pin-type retainer on the inboard side for Limo or Livery) to the cushion side shield and recliner cover.

    1. 3.

      Attach the 2 J-clips to the backrest frame wire.

  1. 8.

    Install the backrest panel in the following sequence.

    1. 1.

      NOTE: The clips in the middle of the backrest panel can be damaged if the bottom of the backrest panel is not pivoted away from the seat.

      Pivot the bottom of the backrest panel out as far as it will go and slide the backrest panel up, engaging the upper retainers on the other side of the backrest frame wires.

    1. 2.

      Align the backrest panel middle clips to the backrest frame wires.

    1. 3.

      Align the lower retainers in the backrest panel and push in, engaging the clips.
      • Make sure the clips in the middle of the backrest panel are engaged to the backrest frame wires.

Passenger seat 

  1. 9.

    Carry out the Occupant Classification System (OCS) System Reset. For additional information, refer to the General Procedures portion of Supplemental Restraint System .
