Lumbar Assembly Front: Removal

All Seats 

  1. 1.

    Remove the front seat. Refer to Seat - Front 

  1. 2.

    Remove the backrest panel.

    1. 1.

      Pull out at the bottom on each side, quickly and firmly, releasing the retainers.

    1. 2.

      NOTE: The clips in the middle of the backrest panel can be damaged if the bottom of the backrest panel is not pivoted away from the seat.

      Pivot the bottom of the backrest panel out as far as it will go and slide the backrest panel down, disengaging the upper hooks.

      • Remove the backrest panel.

  1. 3.

    Remove the carpet flap toe-kick.

    1. 1.

      Disengage the 2 J-clips from the backrest frame wire.

    1. 2.

      Peel the carpet flap toe-kick down and separate the pin-type retainers (only 1 pin-type retainer on the inboard side for limo or livery) from the cushion side shield and recliner cover.

    1. 3.

      Disengage the carpet flap toe-kick J-clip from the cushion frame and remove the carpet flap toe-kick.

  1. 4.

    Release the backrest trim cover hook-and-loop strips near the bottom and at the sides.

  1. 5.

    Disengage the top center backrest cover J-clip attached to the backrest frame wire.

  1. 6.

    Disengage the backrest cover J-clips at the bottom.

All Seats Except Limo or Livery 

  1. 7.

    Remove the backrest Thermo-Electric Device (TED).

    1. 1.

      Disconnect the electrical connector and separate the pin-type retainer from the backrest frame.

    1. 2.

      Disengage the backrest TED from the backrest foam pad wire.

    1. 3.

      Disengage the backrest TED from the backrest frame wire and remove the backrest TED.

  1. 8.

    Remove the power lumbar assembly in the following sequence.

    1. 1.

      Disconnect the 2 power lumbar motor electrical connectors.

    1. 2.

      Remove and discard the 2 clips at the top of the power lumbar assembly retaining it to the backrest frame wire.

    1. 3.

      Release the 2 retainers at the bottom of the power lumbar assembly.

    1. 4.

      Remove the power lumbar assembly.

Limo or Livery Seats 

  1. 9.

    Remove the lumbar assembly in the following sequence:

    1. 1.

      Disconnect the lumbar motor electrical connector.

    1. 2.

      Squeeze the retaining clip together to release the left side of the lumbar assembly.

    1. 3.

      Squeeze the retaining clip together to release the right side of the lumbar assembly.
      • Remove the lumbar assembly.
