Power Steering Pump: Installation

    NOTE: A new Teflon® seal must be installed any time the pressure line is disconnected from the power steering pump or a fluid leak may occur.

  1. Using the Teflon® Seal Installer Set, install a new Teflon® seal on the power steering pressure line fitting.
  2. Holding the power steering pump with a punch inserted into a mounting cavity, connect the pressure line fitting-to-power steering pump.
    • Tighten to 75 Nm (55 lb-ft).
  3. Position the power steering pump and install the 3 bolts.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  4. Position the bracket and install the pressure line bracket-to-engine bolt.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  5. Release the clamp and connect the power steering fluid cooler-to-pump supply hose.
    • Attach the supply hose retainer to the pressure line bracket.
  6. Using the Stretchy Belt Installer Tool, install the power steering pump belt onto the power steering pump pulley.
    • Install the Stretchy Belt Installer Tool, between the power steering pump belt and pulley and turn the crankshaft bolt clockwise.

  7. Install the RH inner fender splash shield. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
  8. Fill the power steering system. For additional information, refer to STEERING SYSTEM - HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST STEERING (HPAS) .
