Selector Lever Cable: Installation

  1. Position the selector lever cable in the vehicle and install the cable in the bracket.
    • Be sure the tabs are locked in place.

  2. Connect the selector lever cable retainer on the brake tube bracket.

  3. Position the selector lever cable grommet in place and install the 2 nuts.
    • Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

  4. NOTE: Route the selector lever cable under the heater housing as noted during removal.

  5. Route the selector lever cable under the heater housing and connect the selector lever cable retainer to the floor.
  6. Position the carpet in place.

  7. NOTE: Failure to use a suitable piece of cardboard between the LH center console lower trim panel and the center console can result in damage to the side of the center console.
  8. Install the LH center console lower trim panel.
    1. Place a suitable piece of cardboard or equivalent against the center console and position the LH center console lower trim panel in place between the seat and the center console but do not remove the cardboard or insert the retainers.
    2. Slide the LH center console lower trim panel forward and then back to install the front of the trim panel in the retainer.
    3. Slide the cardboard out from between the LH center console lower trim panel and the center console and install the LH center console lower trim panel retainers in the center console.

  9. Install the selector lever cable on the selector lever housing.
    • Be sure the tabs are locked in place.

  10. Connect the selector lever cable end on the selector lever ball stud.

  11. Install the selector lever bezel. For additional information, refer to SELECTOR LEVER BEZEL  .
  12. Place the selector lever in DRIVE.

  13. Place the manual control lever in DRIVE.
    1. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops.
    2. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise one detent.

  14. Unlock the adjuster by sliding the locking tab over.

  15. Slide the selector lever cable end forward or backward to align it with the manual control lever.

  16. With the adjuster locking tab unlocked, connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.

  17. Slide the adjuster tab to the LOCK position.

  18. Install the Air Cleaner (ACL) and outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  19. Verify that the vehicle starts in PARK and NEUTRAL only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in REVERSE.
