Condition Possible Sources Action
  • No communication with the ABS module
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • ABS module
  • The yellow ABS warning indicator, the sliding-car icon and the red brake warning indicator are all illuminated at the same time
  • DTCs present in the ABS module
  • No communication between the ABS module and the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
  • Both  the yellow ABS warning indicator and the red brake warning indicator are illuminated
  • DTCs present in the ABS module
  • Both  the yellow ABS warning indicator and the sliding-car icon are illuminated
  • DTCs present in the ABS module
  • Both  the red brake warning indicator and the sliding-car icon are illuminated
  • DTCs present in the ABS module
  • The red brake warning indicator is always/never illuminated
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Parking brake
  • Brake fluid level sensor
  • IC
  • ABS module
  • The yellow ABS warning indicator is always/never on
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • IC
  • ABS module
  • The sliding-car icon is always/never on
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors

  • The sliding-car icon flashes
  • IVD Initialization not completed
  • CARRY OUT the IVD Initialization sequence.
  • AdvanceTrac® system
  • The sliding-car icon will flash 2 times per second during a traction control or stability event. This is a normal function and does not indicate any concerns.
  • Unintended ABS activation at low speeds or near the end of stopping the vehicle with no DTCs present
  • Incorrect or worn tires
  • Under-inflated tire(s)
  • Suspension components
  • Missing, damaged or misaligned wheel bearing/hub magnetic strips
  • INSPECT the wheels and tires, front and rear suspension and the front wheel bearing magnetic strips and the rear wheel hub magnetic strips. REPAIR or INSTALL new as necessary.
  • The stability/traction control system is inoperative
  • DTCs present in the ABS module
  • CARRY OUT the ABS module self-test. RETRIEVE and RECORD any DTCs. REFER to the ABS Module DTC Chart  .
