Automatic Locking Retractor

NOTE: The seat belts at the rear outboard positions can lock if the seat backrest is returned aggressively to the upright position.

Seats that recline

- If the safety belt does not extract after doing this, proceed to the next step.
All seats
1. NOTE: Compressing the backrest foam allows more of the safety belt webbing to retract into the safety belt retractor.
  
  Compress the backrest foam pad.
2. Allow the safety belt webbing to retract as much as possible into the safety belt retractor.
  - If the safety belt does not extract after doing this, proceed to the next step.
1. Allow the safety belt webbing to retract back into the safety belt retractor approximately 0.2 in (5.08 mm).
2. Extract the safety belt webbing from the safety belt retractor.

Tighten to 70 Nm (52 lb-ft).

If the safety belt does not extract and/or the safety belt anchor bolt cannot be installed, install a new safety belt retractor. Refer to SAFETY BELT RETRACTOR - REAR, OUTBOARD .

Check the active restraint system for correct operation. Refer to the appropriate Functional Test. REFER to COMPONENT TEST procedures .
