Unusual starter noise	Flexplate ring gear Incorrect starter drive engagement Starter motor mounting Starter motor mounting bolts Starter motor drive Starter motor	GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
The starter spins but the engine does not crank	Starter motor	INSPECT the starter motor mounting and engagement. REPAIR as necessary.
The starter spins but the engine does not crank	Damaged flywheel teeth	INSPECT the flywheel for damaged, missing or worn teeth. REPAIR as necessary.
