Selector Lever Cable and Bracket: Installation

All vehicles 

1. • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
2. NOTE: Don not connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever at this time.

3. Vehicles equipped with a 5.0L (4V) engine 

4. All vehicles 

6. Set the selector lever in the drive (D) position.
7. 1. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops.
   2. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise 3 detents.
8. 1. Gently pry the latch up.
   2. Slide the lock tab downward.
9. NOTE: After locking the adjuster, pull back on the adjuster to make sure it is securely installed.
   1. With the adjuster locking tab released, connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
   2. Slide the lock tab upward to lock the transmission selector lever cable adjustment lock.
10. Verify that the vehicle starts in PARK and NEUTRAL only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in REVERSE.
