Main Control Valve Body: Removal
NOTE:
The Solenoid Body Strategy Data Download procedure must be performed if a new main control assembly is installed.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .

Rotate the transmission electrical connector counterclockwise.

Pull the transmission electrical connector out to disconnect.

Remove the transmission fluid pan and filter. Refer to: Transmission Fluid Pan, Gasket and Filter - 3.5L EcoBoost (235kW/320PS) . Refer to: Transmission Fluid Pan, Gasket and Filter - 3.7L Duratec (199kW/270PS) . Refer to: Transmission Fluid Pan, Gasket and Filter - 3.2L Duratorq-TDCi (148kW/200PS) - Puma .

Pull the transmission bulkhead connector sleeve retainer down to release it. Using the special tool, pull the outer shell of the bulkhead connector sleeve out of the transmission. Use Special Service Tool: 307-717 Remover, Kostal Sleeve.
- 7.NOTE: During removal of the main control assembly, the thermal bypass valve can fall out of the transmission case. Damage to the valve can occur if the valve falls out.
Remove the bolts from the main control assembly and remove the main control assembly and the thermal bypass valve. Inspect the thermal bypass valve for damage and discard the valve if damage is found.
