Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The ABS module monitors various inputs and compares the values to what should be expected. If the values received are out of range or not what should be expected, the ABS module sets a DTC.
PPT Y ABS MODULE DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS
| DTC | Description | Fault Trigger Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| C1A99:14 | Pressure Sensor: Circuit Short to Ground or Open | Sets when the ABS module detects master cylinder pressure sensor within the ABS module has failed. |
| C1A99:25 | Pressure Sensor: Signal Shape/Waveform Failure | Sets when the ABS module detects master cylinder pressure sensor within the ABS module has failed. |
| C1A99:28 | Pressure Sensor: Signal Bias Level Out of Range/Zero Adjustment Failure | Sets when the ABS module detects master cylinder pressure sensor within the ABS module has failed. |
| U2007:1B | Valve(s): Circuit Resistance Above Threshold | Sets when the ABS module detects high or low resistance in one or more of the HCU valve coils. |
| U2007:49 | Valve(s): Internal Electronic Failure | Sets when the ABS module detects an electrical failure (open or short) from one or more of the HCU valve coils. |
| U2007:4B | Valve(s): Over Temperature | Sets when the ABS module detects excessive temperature within the ABS module. |
| U3000:44 | Control Module: Data Memory Failure | Sets when the ABS module detects an internal fault. |
| U3000:45 | Control Module: Program Memory Failure | Sets when the ABS module detects an internal fault. |
| U3000:46 | Control Module: Calibration/Parameter Memory Failure | Sets when the ABS module detects an internal fault. |
| U3000:47 | Control Module: Watchdog/Safety AμC Failure | Sets when the ABS module detects an internal fault. |
| U3000:48 | Control Module: Supervisor Software Failure | Sets when the ABS module detects an internal fault. |
| U3000:49 | Control Module: Internal Electronic Failure | Sets when the ABS module detects an internal fault. |
| U3000:4B | Control Module: Over Temperature | Sets when the ABS module detects excessive temperature within the ABS module. |
Possible Causes
- Incorrect sensor input
- Stuck valve
- ABS module
Harness Side
- Y1: RECHECK THE ABS MODULE FOR THE DTC
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Clear the ABS DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.NOTE: If DTC U2007:4B or U3000:4B is present, allow the vehicle to cool for 30 minutes.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Carry out the ABS self-test.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes No Go to Y2. The concern is not present at this time. The fault may have been caused by a temporary concern. If this is a constant intermittent concern, Go to Y2.
- Y2: CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.NOTE: The battery must be removed to access the ABS module electrical connector.
- Remove the battery. REFER to GENERAL PROCEDURES .
- ABS Module connector disconnected. (C135)
- Using a good light source, inspect all disconnected electrical connectors for the following:
- corrosion - install new connector or terminal and clean the module pins
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals or pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- spread terminals - install new terminals as necessary
- Install the battery. REFER to GENERAL PROCEDURES .
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes No INSTALL a new ABS module.
CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins TSBs.
If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions.
If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) AND STABILITY CONTROL .
ORDER a replacement ABS module and INCLUDE the RVC on the form.
If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.
When complete, SELECT the "X" in the top right corner to CLOSE this procedure and RETURN to the PTS web site. The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.
When complete, SELECT the "X" in the top right corner to CLOSE this procedure and RETURN to the PTS web site.
- Ignition OFF.
