Selector Lever Cable: Removal

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview
- 2.
Remove the floor console. REFER to: Floor Console
- 3.NOTE: Do not pull or pry on the selector lever cable or the selector lever cable end may be damaged. Use a screwdriver and turn the screwdriver as shown to pry the cable end off the post as close to the post as possible.
Using a screwdriver, pry the selector lever cable end from the selector lever.
FWD vehicles

Remove the air cleaner. REFER to: Air Cleaner - 1.6L EcoBoost REFER to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L EcoBoost REFER to: Air Cleaner - 2.5L Duratec

Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission manual lever and the bracket.- 1.
Remove the selector lever cable bracket bolt.
- 2.
Disengage the selector lever cable holding clip.
- 3.
Disconnect the selector lever cable.

AWD vehicles
- 10.
Remove the battery tray. REFER to: Battery Tray
- 11.
Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission manual lever and the bracket.- 1.
Remove the selector lever cable bracket bolt.
- 2.
Disengage the selector lever cable holding clip.
- 3.
Disconnect the selector lever cable.

- 15.
Remove the nuts from the grommet, route the selector lever cable from the engine compartment through the floor and remove the selector lever cable from the passenger compartment.
