Ignition Coil-On-Plug: Installation
- 1.
Inspect the ignition coil-on-plug rubber boot assembly for cracks, rips, or tears. Replace any damaged coil-on-plug rubber boots.
- 2.NOTE: Apply a small amount of silicone brake caliper grease and dielectric compound to the inside of the ignition coil-on-plug boots before installation. Material: Motorcraft ® Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound / XG-3-A (ESE-M1C171-A).
Install the ignition coil-on-plugs and the ignition coil-on-plug mounting bolts. Tighten the ignition coil-on-plug mounting bolts in the following 2 stages.
- Stage 1: tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
- Stage 2: tighten an additional 50 degrees.
- 3.
Connect the ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors and connect the high-pressure fuel pump electrical connector.
- 4.NOTE: When removing or installing the fuel injection pump noise insulator, spreading the openings will reduce the risk of damage.
