Selector Lever Assembly: Removal

Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
- 1.
Prior to replacing the selector lever assembly for a no start or a high shift effort concern, verify the selector lever cable-to-bracket clips are fully seated at the transmission and selector lever assembly. An unseated cable can cause selector lever cable binding and prevent the manual shaft from completely returning to the P position.Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- 3.NOTE: Do not pull or pry on the selector lever cable or the selector lever cable end may be damaged. Use a screwdriver and turn the screwdriver as shown to pry the cable end off the post as close to the post as possible.
Using a screwdriver, pry the selector lever cable end from the selector lever and remove the selector lever cable retainer bolt.
Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
- 8.NOTE: If necessary, position the seat rearward.
Release the clips and remove the floor console RH side trim panel. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
- 10.NOTE: If necessary, position the seat rearward.
Release the clips and remove the LH side trim panel. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
- 12.
Release the clips, position the selector lever bezel and boot aside and remove the floor console upper trim panel.- Disconnect the electrical connectors. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
