Selector Lever Cable: Installation

1.

Position the selector lever cable and connect the selector lever cable retainer.

Raise the transmission, install the transmission support crossmember bolts and remove the jack stand and wood block. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle StandsUse the General Equipment: Wooden Block

Connect the selector lever cable retainer to the transmission.

4.

Install the selector lever cable retainer bolt.
Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

Connect the selector lever cable to the selector lever assembly.

6.

With the selector lever in D, install the selector lever cable retainer bolt and connect the selector lever cable to the selector lever.
Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

Position the manual lever in D.
1. 1.
  
  Rotate the manual lever counterclockwise until it stops.
1. 2.
  
  Rotate the manual lever clockwise 3 detents.

Unlock the adjuster.
1. 1.
  
  Gently pry the latch up.
1. 2.
  
  Push the lock tab to slide it down.
1. 3.
  
  Lock tab shown open.

9.

NOTE: After locking the adjuster, pull back on the adjuster to make sure it is securely installed.

Connect and lock the adjuster.

  With the adjuster lock tab released, connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
1. 2.
  
  Push the lock tab upward to lock the transmission selector lever cable adjustment lock.

10.

Install the heat shield.

11.

Install the driveshaft. Refer to: Driveshaft .

12.

Verify the vehicle starts in P and N only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in R.
