Selector Lever Cable: Removal

- 1.
With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- 2.
Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
- 3.
Loosen the air cleaner outlet pipe clamp and then remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
2.5L
- 4.
Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
All vehicles
- 5.
- 1.
Remove the selector lever adjuster cable bracket bolt.Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
- 2.
Disengage the selector lever adjuster cable holding clip.
- 3.
Disconnect the selector lever adjuster cable.

Attach a pull cord to the selector lever cable. Use the General Equipment: Draw Cord Use the General Equipment: Adhesive Tape

Remove the selector lever assembly. Refer to: Selector Lever Assembly .
1.6L
- 9.
Remove the catalytic converter to catalytic converter bracket mounting nuts. Remove the catalytic converter bracket mounting nuts and then remove the catalytic converter bracket.Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)
All vehicles
- 10.
- 1.
Remove the nuts.Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- 2.
Remove the bolts and the subframe support bracket.Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

Remove the bolt.Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
- 2.
Remove the bolts.Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- 3.
Remove the bolts and the LH side console housing support bracket.Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

- 15.NOTE: Gearshift cables must not be kinked or bent.
- 1.
Remove the nuts.Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- 2.NOTE: Take extra care not to damage the edges of the component.
Lift the A/C evaporator and blower assembly and remove the selector lever cable.
- 3.
Make sure cable mount fits flush to floor pan.
