Body Control Module (BCM): Installation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Ford Transit Connect. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
The BCM still communicates with the scan tool with the ignition off. Use the previous scan tool session or start a scan tool session using the part number or tear tag number on the PCM. The tear tag number can be found by double-clicking the VIN in the top left corner of PTS after OASIS has been run for the VIN.
NOTE:
Low vehicle battery state-of-charge can affect proper module programming. Battery state-of-charge can be monitored on the scan tool. A red battery icon indicates low vehicle battery state-of-charge. Over-voltage may also affect module programming.
Make sure the battery is fully charged before starting the installation procedure. Do not have a battery charger connected to the vehicle charging system during the installation procedure.
NOTE:
Carry out the remaining steps only if installing a new BCM.
- 2.NOTE: You will not be able to confirm that transport mode has been deactivated until module programming has been completed.
Deactivate transport mode in the BCM. Refer to: Transport and Factory Mode Deactivation .
- 3.
Using the previous scan tool session, complete the PMI process for the BCM following the on-screen instructions.
- 5.
Using the scan tool, select Tool Box/Module Programming/Programmable Parameters/Car Configuration Parameter(s).
- 6.NOTE: If a diagnostic scan tool is connected to the internet, it automatically obtains As-Built data. If a diagnostic scan tool is not connected to the internet, obtain the As-Built data from Professional Technician Society (PTS) OASIS. Download the As-Built data to the scan tool or other storage device, such as a flash drive, following the on-screen instructions.
From the Car Configuration screen select "Retrieve PTS derived AS BUILT data". Follow the on-screen instructions to install the as-built data into the BCM.
- 7.NOTE: Any scan tool prompts to turn the ignition on and off should be ignored during the Car Configuration Parameter process.
Do not interrupt the process until it is completed.
- 8.
Confirm that transport mode has been deactivated by verifying that transport mode is not displayed in the instrument cluster.
- 9.
Carry out the Configurable Engine Immobilizer (CEI) Lock Configuration. On the scan tool, select Body/Service Functions/CEI Lock Configuration.
- 10.
Disable Factory Mode. Refer to: Transport and Factory Mode Deactivation .
- 11.NOTE: If a PCM tear tag or part number was used to establish the scan tool session, it may be necessary to establish a new session using the normal process.
Carry out the key code erase and program procedure. Refer to: Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment .
- 12.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, enter the PATS functions and follow the on-screen instructions to enter PATS security access.- Select parameter reset BCM and PCM. Follow the on-screen instructions.
- 13.
Configure the customer preference programmable parameters. Refer to: Module Configuration - System Operation and Component Description .
- 14.
Train the tire pressure sensors. Refer to: Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Location Calibration .
