Selector Lever Cable: Removal

- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner
.
8-Speed Automatic Transmission - 8F35

- Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission.
- Remove the selector lever cable bracket bolts and position aside the selector lever cable.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
All vehicles
- Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission.
- Remove the selector lever cable bracket bolt.
Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
- Disengage the selector lever cable holding clip.
- Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission manual lever.
- Remove the selector lever cable bracket bolt.
- Attach a pull cord to the selector lever cable. Use the General Equipment: Draw Cord Use the General Equipment: Adhesive Tape
- Remove the selector lever assembly. Refer to: Selector Lever Assembly .
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- If equipped, remove the retainers and the underbody shield.
- Remove the subframe support bracket.
- Remove the nuts.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Remove the bolts and the subframe support bracket.
Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Remove the nuts.
- Remove the retainers and position the front floor exhaust system heat shield aside.
- Disconnect the selector lever cable from the clip.
- Separate the floor console LH side trim panel.
- Remove the LH side console housing support bracket.
- Remove the bolt.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
- Remove the bolts.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Remove the bolts and the LH side console housing support bracket.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
- Remove the bolt.

NOTE: Gearshift cables must not be kinked or bent.
Remove the selector lever cable.
- Remove the nuts.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

NOTE: Take extra care not to damage the edges of the component.
Lift the A/C evaporator and blower assembly and remove the selector lever cable.
- During installation, make sure cable mount fits flush to floor pan.
- Remove the nuts.
