Selector Lever Cable: Removal
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the floor console. REFER to: Floor Console .
- Remove the bolts and the LH side console housing support bracket.
- Remove the retainers and the engine undershield.
FWD vehicles
- Remove the air cleaner. REFER to: Air Cleaner - 1.5L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) - I4. REFER to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) - MI4. REFER to: Air Cleaner - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS).
- Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission manual lever and the bracket.
- Remove the selector lever cable bracket bolt.
- Disengage the selector lever cable holding clip.
- Disconnect the selector lever cable.
- Remove the nuts and position the front floor exhaust system heat shield aside.
AWD vehicles
- Remove the battery tray. REFER to: Battery Tray .
- Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission manual lever and the bracket.
- Remove the selector lever cable bracket bolt.
- Disengage the selector lever cable holding clip.
- Disconnect the selector lever cable.
- Remove the bolts and position the exhaust pipe mounting bracket aside.
- Remove the nuts and position the front floor exhaust system heat shield aside.
All vehicles
- Disconnect the selector lever cable retainer.
- Remove the nuts from the grommet, route the selector lever cable from the engine compartment through the floor and remove the selector lever cable from the passenger compartment.
