Selector Lever Cable Adjustment

For information on Ford Color Coded Illustrations, refer to OEM COLOR CODING .

Adjustment 

  1. Apply the parking brake.

  2. Position the selector lever in D.

  3. Remove the air cleaner. REFER to: Air Cleaner - 1.5L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) - I4. REFER to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) - MI4. REFER to: Air Cleaner - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS).
  4. Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the manual control lever.

  5. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops.

  6. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise 1 detent into D.

  7. Release the selector lever cable adjuster lock.

    1. Carefully pry the adjuster lock tabs outward.
    2. While holding the adjuster lock tabs outward, slide the lock out to unlock the selector lever cable.

  8. Connect the selector lever cable to the manual control lever.

  9. Slide the adjuster tab in place to lock the selector lever cable.

  10. Install the air cleaner. REFER to: Air Cleaner - 1.5L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) - I4. REFER to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) - MI4. REFER to: Air Cleaner - 2.5L Duratec (125kW/170PS).
  11. Verify the engine starts only in P and N and the reverse lamps illuminate only in R.
