Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

With the ignition ON, the IPC and PCM communicate with the ABS module through the GWM. The IPC sends messages to the GWM over the MS-CAN, the PCM uses the HS-CAN1. The GWM transmits the messages to the ABS module over the HS-CAN2. If the ABS module does not receive these messages within a certain time frame, the module sets DTCs. For information on the messages sent to the ABS module by the IPC and PCM, refer to the Network Message Chart in DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .

This can be due to a IPC failure, a circuit failure on the HS-CAN or an excessive load on the network. |
| U0164:87 | Lost Communication With HVAC Control Module: Missing Message | This DTC sets in the ABS module if the traction control MyKey status message from the IPC is missing or if the selectable drive mode messages from the PCM are missing. |
