Selector Lever Cable: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Position the selector lever in D.

  3. Remove the driveshaft. Refer to: Driveshaft .
  4. NOTE: Do not pull or pry on the selector lever cable or the selector lever cable end may be damaged. Use a screwdriver and turn the screwdriver as shown to pry the cable end off the post as close to the post as possible.

    Using a screwdriver, pry the selector lever cable end from the selector lever and remove the selector lever cable retainer bolt.

    Torque

    : 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  5. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the selector lever assembly.

  6. Remove the heat shield.

  7. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the manual lever and remove the selector lever cable bolt.

  8. Disconnect the selector lever cable retainer from the transmission.

  9. Position a jack stand and a wood block under the transmission support crossmember, remove the bolts and lower the transmission. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block

  10. Disconnect the selector cable retainer and remove the selector lever cable.
