Selector Lever Cable: Installation
- Position the selector lever cable and connect the selector lever cable retainer.
- Raise the transmission, install the transmission support crossmember bolts and remove the jack stand and wood block. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block
Torque
: 34 lb.ft (46 Nm)
- Connect the selector lever cable retainer to the transmission.
- Install the selector lever cable retainer bolt.
Torque
: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
- Connect the selector lever cable to the selector lever assembly.
- With the selector lever in D, install the selector lever cable retainer bolt and connect the selector lever cable to the selector lever.
Torque
: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
- Position the manual lever in D.
- Rotate the manual lever clockwise until it stops.
- Rotate the manual lever counterclockwise 3 detents.
- Unlock the adjuster.
- Gently pry the latch up.
- Push the lock tab to slide it down.
- Lock tab shown open.

NOTE: After locking the adjuster, pull back on the adjuster to make sure it is securely installed.
Connect and lock the adjuster.
- With the adjuster lock tab released, connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
- Push the lock tab upward to lock the transmission selector lever cable adjustment lock.
- Install the heat shield.
- Install the driveshaft. Refer to: Driveshaft .
- Verify the vehicle starts in P and N only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in R.
