Pinpoint Test Purpose
To verify PSCM U2101 is present and provide diagnostics if DTC U2101 is currently present and active in the PSCM.
- BU1: CHECK VEHICLE HISTORY
- Have there been any recent service actions related to the PSCM?
Yes No REPEAT the PMI procedure as directed by the diagnostic scan tool or CONFIGURE the PSCM using vehicle as-built data. For Fiesta, EcoSport, KA. Go to BU2.
For all others, Go to BU3. - BU2: CONFIGURE THE IPC
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, configure the IPC. Refer to Module Configuration article .
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Clear the PSCM DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait at least 90 seconds for the modules to completely shut off.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
Carry out the PSCM self-test.
- Does DTC U2101 return?
Yes No INSTALL a new EPAS steering column.
REFER to Steering Column .
ORDER a replacement EPAS column and INCLUDE the RVC on the order form.
If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim.The condition causing the DTC is not present at this time. - BU3: CONFIGURE THE BCM
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, configure the BCM. Refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables .
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Clear the PSCM DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait at least 90 seconds for the modules to completely shut off.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
Carry out the PSCM self-test.
- Does DTC U2101 return?
Yes No INSTALL a new EPAS gear.
REFER to Power Steering article .
ORDER a replacement EPAS gear and INCLUDE the RVC on the order form.
If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim.The condition causing the DTC is not present at this time.
