Pinpoint Test F : P2535: Notes
Diagnostic Overview
Diagnostics in this article assume a certain skill level and knowledge of Ford-specific diagnostic practices. Refer to Diagnostic Methods in Service Information for information about these practices.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
When the ignition is turned to the START position (without push button start) or the start/stop switch (with push button start) has been pressed, the PCM receives a voltage signal on the start circuit. The PCM supplies voltage and ground to the starter relay coil when the required inputs have been received.
Possible Sources
- BCM
- Ignition switch (without push button start)
- Start/stop switch (with push button start)
- PCM
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks
- Verify the BCM fuse 26 (5A).
Fault Trigger Conditions
| DTC | Description | Fault Trigger Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| P2535 | Ignition Switch Run/Start Position Circuit High | This DTC sets when the PCM detects a short to voltage on the start circuit while the engine is running. |
