Pinpoint Test CB : P0A44:92

  1. NOTE: The Inverter System Controller (ISC) is referred to as the SOBDMC (Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module C) in the scan tool.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    REFER to: Electric Powertrain Control - System Operation and Component Description .

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    SOBDMC P0A44:92 Drive Motor "A" Position Sensor Circuit Overspeed: Performance Or Incorrect Operation This DTC sets when an intermittent resolver wiring concern is detected or when an attempt at heavy acceleration with the vehicles wheels are in the air, such as on a hoist has occurred.

    Possible Sources 

    • Wiring, terminals or connectors
    • Transmission assembly

  2. CB1 CHECK FOR INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) MOTOR POSITION DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    NOTE: Wiring overlays or repinning of circuits are NOT appropriate for DTC P0A44 due to risk of hardware damage.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, run the Inverter System Controller (ISC) self-test.

    Are any motor position DTCs present? 

    Yes  DIAGNOSE all other motor position DTCs, REFER to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .
    No  GO to  CB2
  3. CB2 REVIEW THE SNAPSHOT DATA FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) P0A44:92

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, review the DTC snapshot data for DTC P0A44:92.

    Was the DTC set at a high rate of speed (over 100 mph)? 

    Yes  The system is operating correctly at this time. This DTC is expected to set in cases where the driver lost traction at extreme speeds. CLEAR the Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    No  GO to  CB3
  4. CB3 TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs.

    • Access the SOBDMC and monitor the M_SPEED (Rpm) PID

    • Attempt to reproduce the concern by fast acceleration and braking. While monitoring the PID, look for intermittent or erratic behavior.

    Did the PID display any erratic behavior during the test drive? 

    Yes  GO to Pinpoint Test CA 
    No  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, REFER to ENGINE CONTROLS - PINPOINT TESTS (HYBRID) to continue diagnostics.
