Accelerator Pedal: Removal

Fixed Accelerator Pedal 

NOTE: To prevent setting DTCs, make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position prior to disconnecting the accelerator pedal electrical connector.
  1. Disconnect the fixed accelerator pedal wiring harness electrical connector.

  2. Remove the bolt and the accelerator pedal.

    Torque

    : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    Fixed Accelerator Pedal and Bracket 

    NOTE: To prevent setting DTCs, make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position prior to disconnecting the accelerator pedal electrical connector.
  3. Disconnect the fixed accelerator pedal wiring harness electrical connector and retainer.

  4. Remove the bolts and the accelerator pedal.

    Torque

    : 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

    Adjustable Accelerator Pedal 

    NOTE: To prevent setting DTCs, make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position prior to disconnecting the accelerator pedal electrical connectors.
  5. Disconnect the adjustable accelerator pedal wiring harness electrical connector.

  6. Remove the bolt and the adjustable accelerator pedal.

    Torque

    : 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

    Adjustable Accelerator Pedal Motor and Bracket Assembly 

    NOTE: The adjustable pedal system must be indexed whenever the brake pedal assembly or accelerator pedal assembly is installed. Refer to HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM ACTUATION .
    NOTE: To prevent setting DTCs, make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position prior to disconnecting the accelerator pedal electrical connectors.
  7. Disconnect the adjustable accelerator pedal wiring harness electrical connectors and retainer.

  8. NOTE: The adjustable accelerator pedal cable is part of the adjustable pedal motor and bracket assembly and cannot be removed.
    NOTE: Instrument panel is removed for clarity.

    1. Rotate the adjustable accelerator pedal cable counterclockwise at the adjustable brake pedal.
    2. Remove the adjustable accelerator pedal cable from the adjustable brake pedal.
    3. Detach the adjustable accelerator pedal cable retainer.

    • NOTE: The adjustable pedal system must be indexed whenever the brake pedal assembly or accelerator pedal assembly is installed.

      Index the adjustable pedal assemblies. Refer to: Adjustable Pedal Indexing .

  9. Remove the bolts and the adjustable pedal motor and bracket assembly.

    Torque

    : 177 lb.in (20 Nm)
