Steering Gear: Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  2. NOTE: Make sure the boot is properly installed before installing the steering gear into the vehicle. If the boot is not properly installed it can cause high friction with the input shaft, which may cause internal damage to the steering gear.

    1. Check and install the steering gear boot on steering gear as shown.
    2. Rotate the steering gear boot clockwise to lock into position.

  3. If a new steering gear was installed, download the PSCM configuration from the scan tool to the new PSCM. Refer to: Module Configuration - System Operation and Component Description
