NOTE: The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. When removing any turbocharger or engine air intake system component, ensure that no debris enters the system. Failure to do so may result in damage to the turbocharger.
  1. Inspect the turbocharger or engine air intake system components and clean, if necessary.
  2. With the aid of an assistant and using the floor crane and chain, install the engine on the subframe.

  3. Install and adjust and tighten the adjustable mounting arm bolts. Use the General Equipment: Adjustable Mounting Arm

  4. Remove the floor crane and chain.

  5. Remove the spreader bar and quick links. Remove Special Service Tool: 303-1246 Engine Spreader Bar.

    • If removed, install new TC mounting studs.

      Torque: 102 lb.in (11.5 Nm)

    • Install a new TC gasket.

    1. Install new TC oil supply tube O-ring seals and a new TC oil supply tube oil filter. Lubricate the new TC oil supply tube O-ring seals with clean engine oil.
    2. Install a new TC coolant supply tube O-ring seal. Lubricate the new TC coolant supply tube O-ring seal with clean engine coolant.

    1. NOTE: Install the coolant supply tube and the oil supply tube to the engine block while installing the TC.

      Install the TC and loosely install the new fasteners.

    2. Tighten the fasteners in sequence.

      Torque: Fastener 1: 44 lb.ft (60 Nm) - Fastener 2: 44 lb.ft (60 Nm) - Fastener 3: 27 lb.ft (37 Nm) - Re-tighten fastener 1: 44 lb.ft (60 Nm) - Re-tighten fastener 2: 44 lb.ft (60 Nm) - Re-tighten fastener 3: 27 lb.ft (37 Nm)

    • Install the TC oil supply tube bolt.

      Torque: 18 lb.ft (24 Nm)

    • Connect the vacuum hose and clamp.

    • Connect the TC coolant return hose and clamp.

  8. Install the heat shield and the bolts.

  9. Install a new TC oil return tube O-ring seal and lubricate with clean engine oil.

    NOTE: Wipe off any excess Grease.

    Lubricate the front drive axle splines with Grease.

  18. With the aid of an assistant and using the powertrain jack, raise the powertrain and subframe as an assembly 25.4 mm (1 in) from the frame.

    1. With the aid of an assistant and using the powertrain jack, position the powertrain and subframe forwards 50.8 mm (2 in).
    2. With the aid of an assistant and using the powertrain jack, raise the powertrain and subframe 25.4 mm (1 in).

  32. NOTE: Use the internal or external hex-holding feature to prevent the ball and stud from turning while removing or installing the stabilizer bar link nuts. The link boot seal must not be allowed to twist while tightening the link nuts or damage to the boot seal will occur.

    Position the RH sway bar link and install the new nut.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  33. NOTE: Use the internal or external hex-holding feature to prevent the ball and stud from turning while removing or installing the stabilizer bar link nuts. The link boot seal must not be allowed to twist while tightening the link nuts or damage to the boot seal will occur.

    Position the LH sway bar link and install the new nut.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

    • Connect the RH heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.

    • Attach the wiring harness retainer.

    3. If equipped with 10R60 transmission. Refer to: Transmission - 3.0L EcoBoost .
    4. RH and LH side. Refer to: Halfshaft .
    5. RH and LH side. Refer to: Brake Disc .

    • Connect the RH transfer case vent hose.

    • Connect the steering gear wiring harness electrical connectors and attach the wiring harness retainers.

    1. Install the fuel injection pump noise insulator.

    • Position the heater hose brackets and install the bolts.

    5. Refer to: Degas Bottle .
    6. Refer to: Cowl Panel .

  57. Install a new oil filter and fill the engine with clean engine oil. Refer to: Engine Oil Draining and Filling .
  58. Install the suspension support bar and the bolts.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  62. Front transfer case fluid level check. Refer to: Transfer Case Fluid Level Check .
  63. Fill the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  64. Check the transmission fluid level.

  65. Pressurize the fuel system. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
  66. Use the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Misfire Monitor Profile Correction routine in the diagnostic scan tool.
  67. Start and check the exhaust system for leaks.
