Possible Causes

- BCM configuration
- ABS module configuration
- AF1: VERIFY THE ABS MODULE DTC
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Clear the ABS DTCs.
- Put the ABS module in sleep mode by performing the following steps:
- With ALL doors closed, set the ignition from ON to OFF.
- Disconnect the diagnostic scan tool.
- Open the door, exit the vehicle and close the door.
- Wait a minimum of 90 seconds for the ABS module to enter sleep mode.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
Carry out the ABS self-test.
- Are any of the DTCs listed in the Fault Trigger Conditions Table present and active in the ABS module?
Yes No Go to AF2. The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- AF2: VERIFY THE NETWORK COMMUNICATION
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the Network Test.
- Record all No Communication and Invalid Data DTCs.
- Do all equipped modules communicate with the diagnostic scan tool?
Yes No Go to AF3. DIAGNOSE the module not responding to the diagnostic scan tool. REFER to the Module Communications Network article.
- AF3: CHECK FOR COMMUNICATION DTCS
- Using the recorded results from the Network Test, determine if there are any No Communication With The BCM, No Communication With The GWM, Invalid Data Received From The BCM or Invalid Data Received From The GWM DTCs present in the ABS module.
- Are there any No Communication or any Invalid Data DTCs present in the ABS module?
Yes No DIAGNOSE all No Communication and Invalid Data DTCs in the ABS module before diagnosing this DTC. REFER to the ABS Module DTC Chart. Go to AF4.
- AF4: CONFIGURE THE ABS MODULE USING PMI
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, configure the ABS module using PMI. Follow all diagnostic scan tool directions.
- Put the ABS module in sleep mode by performing the following steps:
- With ALL doors closed, set the ignition from ON to OFF.
- Disconnect the diagnostic scan tool.
- Open the door, exit the vehicle and close the door.
- Wait a minimum of 90 seconds for the ABS module to enter sleep mode.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Clear the ABS DTCs.
- Put the ABS module in sleep mode by performing the following steps:
- With ALL doors closed, set the ignition from ON to OFF.
- Disconnect the diagnostic scan tool.
- Open the door, exit the vehicle and close the door.
- Wait a minimum of 90 seconds for the ABS module to enter sleep mode.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
Carry out the ABS self-test.
- Are any of the DTCs listed in the Fault Trigger Conditions Table present and active in the ABS module?
Yes No Using a diagnostic scan tool, PROGRAM the BCM using PMI. FOLLOW all scan tool directions. REFER to the Module Configuration article. The system is operating correctly. The concern was caused by an incomplete or improper programming session.
- AF5: CONFIGURE THE ABS MODULE USING AS-BUILT DATA
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, configure the ABS module using As-Built data. Follow all diagnostic scan tool directions.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Clear the ABS DTCs.
Carry out the ABS self-test.
- Are any of the DTCs listed in the Fault Trigger Conditions Table present in the ABS module?
Yes No Using a diagnostic scan tool, PROGRAM the PCM using PMI. FOLLOW all scan tool directions. REFER to the Module Configuration article. The system is operating correctly. The concern was caused by an incomplete or improper programming session.
