This DTC sets when the SASM temperature equals or exceeds 100 degrees C (212 degrees F). SET the ignition to OFF and WAIT at least 5 minutes. SET the ignition to ON and, using a diagnostic scan tool, CARRY OUT the SASM Module Reset routine. Using a diagnostic scan tool, CLEAR the SECM DTCs. SET the ignition to OFF and then START the engine and WAIT at least 20 seconds for the SECM to wake up and test the adaptive steering system. Using a diagnostic scan tool, CARRY OUT the SECM self-test. If the DTC returns, INSTALL a new SASM-clockspring assembly. REFER to Supplemental Restraint System
